Cortona and its Treasures

Cortona. One can start visiting the mediaeval town from the top of the hill with the Basilica of St Margaret and on foot, through the old town, the Romanesque church of St Christopher with its Renaissance chapel, the Renaissance church of S. Niccolò, which preserves a painting by Signorelli, the square of the Town Hall with the mediaeval Municipal Palace, Casali Palace, mediaeval residence of the family bearing the same name and the Cathedral. At the end one can enjoy a walk along the Via Nazionale, the ancient “Ruga Piana", lined up with narrow streets and beautiful panoramic views.
